Tools to navigate while in cloud cover

I enjoy flying through the clouds! And who im exploring on foot, the clouds add mood to the POI and Im fighting enemies in it! Although, when it covers a lighthouse, its rather frustrating.
Perhaps the lighthouse could actually be lit and clear just the area around it? In addition to flood lights on the ship that can be turned on and off for the ships?
Id hate to loose the ambiance that cloud cover bring naturally.
Even a lantern for the player to carry that would clear the immediate area would be nice too.
